Dr. Maryam Al Suwaidi is regarded as one of the few multi-faceted professionals of repute from the region, with experience of over 20 years across a broad spectrum of specialized disciplines ranging from AML/CFT compliance, corporate governance, securities regulation including oversight of cash and derivatives markets, listing, trading and operations, insurance markets regulation, credit bureau oversight and Islamic and conventional jurisprudence.

Dr. Al Suwaidi has held several leadership positions over the last 20 years. She has been the Leader of the SCA International Competiveness Team achieving top ranks at both the Board of Director's effectiveness indicator at the World Competitiveness Yearbook of the International Institute for Management Development, and the Investor Protection Indicator in the World Bank Ease of Business Report for MENA Region, which resulted in raising the ranking of the UAE from 128 to be among the top 10 internationally; Team Leader of the UAE Oversight and Supervision on Financial Markets Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); Head Committee of SCA Services Development; and the Head Committee to Review the Fees System Applicable to the Authority and the Securities Markets in the country.
